Welcome to Orion Elementary School!
I hope you will take time to review all the information about our school on this site. Orion Elementary proudly serves military families stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER). Our school exclusively serves military-connected students from all branches represented on JBER. Additionally, many of our teachers, office staff, and paraprofessionals are members of military families themselves, offering a unique and valuable perspective into the lives of our students and their families.

Orion has a long and rich tradition of academic excellence. We are a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Our staff and families consistently go above and beyond to support student success while fostering a caring, supportive, and nurturing environment. Orion is a special place where students excel both socially and academically as they grow into our nation’s future leaders.

Mission and Vision

Mission:
Orion Elementary is committed to research-based, culturally responsive practices that encourage all students to become confident, independent, lifelong learners.

Vision:
All students will engage in meaningful learning experiences that challenge them to reach their full potential emotionally, socially, physically, and academically.

We achieve this mission with the support of the Anchorage School District, JBER student supports (including MFLC and the JBER School Liaison), our wonderful families, and our dedicated staff. Everything we do at Orion is guided by one central focus: the military child.

Orion’s teachers and staff promote goal setting and self-awareness through the Second Step social-emotional learning curriculum, which is actively taught each day. We are dedicated to helping every student succeed, and we sincerely believe:
“Each Child, Every Day, Will Be Successful.”

Orion is also a PBIS school, where we teach students to Be Safe, Be Kind, and Be Responsible in all that they do.
